Capital Pediatric Dentistry follows and actually exceeds the protocol and criteria mandated by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Dental Board of California for safe performance of IV sedation in the dental office.
Our office is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment including: a pulse oximeter (blood oxygen monitor), a capnograph (respiration monitor), an electrocardiogram (heart monitor) and a sphygmomanometer (blood pressure monitor) as well as resuscitative medications and equipment. In fact, our office has been specifically built to safely provide IV sedation to children including a separate recovery room for post-operative care and an emergency generator in case of power outage.
Dr. Crippen is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and maintains a certificate in IV “conscious” sedation issued by the Dental Board of California. He is also certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
